Data and System Sovereignty in the Age of Cloud and AI
Rethinking Availability, Control, and Accountability

For decades, Oracle technologies have formed the backbone of mission-critical IT systems in European enterprises. However, with the increasing shift of workloads to the cloud, the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence, and the continuous evolution of Oracle platforms, the question arises anew: how can data and system sovereignty, availability, and long-term control be ensured in the future? The upcoming user conference of the Austrian Oracle User Group focuses on this dynamic tension between technological innovation and sovereign IT design. The spotlight is on current and emerging Oracle technologies—from database and platform innovations to cloud and AI services, as well as modern development and operating models—and their implementation in architectures that address regulatory requirements, resilience, and independence. We are seeking practical presentations and real-world case studies demonstrating how organizations strategically leverage and evolve Oracle technologies without relinquishing control over their data, systems, and applications. Both traditional on-premises and hybrid scenarios, as well as modern cloud and AI approaches, are explicitly welcome. Conference topics include, but are not limited to:

• Current and emerging Oracle technology developments (e.g., database, OCI, platform and automation services) and their strategic positioning
• Data, system, and application sovereignty with Oracle technologies in cloud, hybrid, and on-premises architectures
• Availability, resilience, and operational security of mission-critical Oracle systems under regulatory and geopolitical conditions
• Software development with Oracle technologies: modern architectures, development platforms, automation, and maintainability
• AI with Oracle: use cases, integration into existing applications, data control, governance, and secure operating models
• Experiences with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, private cloud, and European hosting—from operational, architectural, and development perspectives
• Exit strategies, portability, and vendor risk management in the Oracle ecosystem
• The interplay between Oracle and open-source technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, frameworks, runtime environments) in real-world enterprise landscapes
• Case studies from modernization, migration, and further development of complex Oracle-based systems

The conference is aimed at Oracle users, IT decision-makers, architects, developers, and administrators who do not view Oracle technologies in isolation, but as part of a future-ready, sovereign, and responsibly operated IT landscape. The goal of the event is to foster exchange within the community, contextualize technological developments, and present concrete solution approaches—for an Oracle-based IT environment that remains innovative while preserving its sovereignty.

• 13.04.2026: Determination of the presentations & feedback on your submission

For publication (mailings and information for conference participants in the conference folders), we also need a suitable photo of you and your company's logo as well as the link under which we may store your company logo - please send us everything at the same time as the form to (call4papers@aoug.at).We would like to point out that only those contributions will be shortlisted that expressly agree to the copyright-free publication of the content on the invitation and in the AOUG media (download file for the presentation, video recording during the conference if applicable). You will receive the decision of the expert jury by April 13th, 2026 and then information about the final program of our conference.
